The oldest mice pups have their eyes open. They will be weaned sometime this week. Muffin and his albino females create agouti babies. I also lost a male rat. Not sure what happened to him he was doing fine the day before but I did get him to a pet store where he as being sold as a feeder and those usually aren’t the healthiest. But good news is some of the females look pregnant. Ill get pictures some time this week of the mice.
I now have my shelves for the snake rack. Thermostat is in transit, not sure whats going on with the heat tape yet. The rack will either be in my room or a spare room we have. Not sure yet because I also wanted to put my mice on it and they are very noisy at night. I’ll keep you all updated as we get everything together.

Cleaning day for the mice. The furred pups are almost 3 weeks old. The pinks are about 2 days old. Super cute little things. Once I get the snake rack built and Sam into a tub Im thinking of moving my breeders to the 20 gallon, we will see what happens but thats my plan.
We got some mealworms for the piranhas and they took no interest in them. So I figured I could see if my rodents would enjoy them as a snack. Some of the mice took them right away, others weren’t interested. 90% of my rats just wanted the cap they were in but my oldest rat (We just call her the Old Lady) knew exactly what to do and munched on one very happily, shes always been very food driven. And a black blaze female also took one. Some rats were more interested in my jeans or the small tongs I was using to pick up the mealworms. (mealworms don’t bother me as long as I don’t touch them)

Changed half the bedding in the mice tank today. This is my first look at the babies, I left their nest bedding in there. 20 little pups. They all look like they will have dark coats and they came from 2 females I thought were pregnant when i got them so Stud Muffin might not be the daddy. I have 2 other females that are for sure pregnant by Muffin so I will just have to compare. I also don’t know the genetics of any of the mice so who knows!

2 of my female mice look like they are going to give birth any day now so I went ahead and cleaned their tank. I have never seen a pregnant mouse in person and they look like walking dildos tbh, its kind of crazy how far their stomachs expand for such little beings.
First Picture: All the mice in a holding bin while I cleaned.
Second Picture: My audience I have every time I’m back there. The other pets cant get into the room unless I’m back there and have the door open so they take every opportunity to check out the mice. (2/3 cats and my pup Jasper)

Rodent cleaning day. I learned the females I bought as feeders are way more friendly than the male that was being sold as a pet. He was wiggling his tail at me and wouldn’t let me touch him, I had to scoop him out with a cup. I’m going to start working with him to calm him down a bit.

Got a male for the ladies. He’s so cute and needs a name. Right now I’m just calling him Stud Muffin.

I also got a group of really cute mice at the show. Note, the pine you see in there was what the vendor put them on which got dumped into their digs when I put them in. I use aspen.
