USARK - United States Association of Reptile KeepersDan Ashe just announced that Reticulated pythons and three anacondas will be listed as injurious under the Lacey Act. This is unacceptable and extreme overreach by FWS. USARK will release an email newsletter with our future actions ASAP. This is a rule finalization, according to Ashe. From Retic Nation:
Retics and the Only other Anaconda that exist in the USA not already on the Lacey Act, the Green Anaconda, have been added to the Lacey Act.
Following opportunities for public comment, an economic analysis and an environmental assessment, the Service produced the final rule, which is expected to publish in the Federal Register March 10. The prohibitions in the rule will go into effect 30 days after publication and apply to live individuals, gametes, viable eggs or hybrids of the four snakes.
You can still own, breed, sell, trade, ship and or move a Reticulated Python and Green Anaconda within the The United States.
You cannot do any of the previous actions mentioned after on or abouts April 9, 2015, outside your State.
As of right now, this instant. Any Retic or Green anaconda can be treated exactly how they have been. Buy, sell, trade, ship, move across state lines is 100% legal, until, on or About April 9, 2015. Which is 30 days after the bill is registered.
