Hi! Sorry to bother, but I was looking into getting a crested gecko and I was wondering what type of enclosure would be best for them? And what kind of substrate should I use?

An enclosure that is taller than it is wide is important as these are arboreal geckos. Something 12x12x18 would be an appropriate size for two geckos. I really like the Exo-terra enclosures but you could even use a 20 gallon aquarium tipped on one end if you wanted to.

Substrate can be anything from paper towels to coconut fiber or other similar products. Reptile carpet would also work well although it doesn’t hold as much moisture as other soil type beddings.

That size of enclosure is suitable for ONE adult gecko.  Do not shove two adult geckos into one of those. That is just mean.

Cresties do best if housed on their own, but some people keep females together. But even then they can still fight. It’s honestly just best for the animals health to keep them separated because if one is sick, you have to treat both of them. If you see a weird poop, both animals have to go to the vet. One could fight the other and you have an injury or death on your hands. Separate is better for your wallet and the welfare of the animals.

Males will fight and males placed with females will breed and there are dangers if the female is too small to breed.

TLDR; Crested geckos are best cared for in their own individual, 20g equivalent enclosures.

Please, please, PLEASE do your own quick search before telling people this sort of information. You need to cover dangers of cohabitation as well, not encourage it.
